Belleville’s Pop-Ups on the Bay program has been given the go head from council for 2021.

A total of 13 businesses were approved Monday to run their pop-up shops in West Zwick’s Park this year, with eight returning including:

  • Golden Scoop
  • Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop
  • Authentic Apparel
  • Royal Haveli
  • Venture Outfitters
  • Gator’s Fries
  • Brick Oven Pizza Truck
  • JERKebago

More pop-up stalls have been added for five new vendors as well, including:

  • Falafel King
  • Benji’s Cafe and Bake
  • Menchies Frozen Yogurt
  • Lemon’s
  • Smokin’ Carnivore

The pop-ups will open on June 1 and operate Friday to Sunday in June and September, and Tuesday to Sunday (plus holiday Mondays) in July and August, between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Economic Development Manager Karen Poste says new COVID-19 restrictions will also be in place.

“The health unit has changed a little bit how they’re treating the pop-ups. They’re treating it as one gathering location, so they are putting some limits on the number of visitors in that area. But we’ve been able to deal with those restrictions with the implementation of some fencing, so we know we’ll be able to accommodate lots of people in a physically distanced way at the pop-ups.”

Each of the vendors will pay $1,400 to operate their shop for the season.
