Eight buses lined the shoulder at Market Square Sunday where Gleaners Food Bank volunteers were eager and ready to collect food-stuff donations across Belleville for the organization’s annual food drive.

Gleaners operations manager Suzanne Quinlan could not attend the big day but warehouse manager Kieth Pooland, a third-year full-time staff employee, was on hand to direct the huge effort.

“We are running our city-wide food drive today. The buses go out door to door to collect donations and return them to the food bank. The cadets, Subway, and other volunteers are ready to help sort and organize,” said Pooland.

In preparation for the most significant food drive event of the year, the organization was calling on the community for the help of 300 volunteers.
