From the WEST
The Murray Canal was constructed in the 1880’s to connect the west end of the Bay of Quinte to Presqu’ ile Bay on Lake Ontario. It is 4 nm in length.
Clearing the Murray Canal, sail east, keeping the RED spar buoys on your port (Remember, you are heading downstream as you sail down the Bay of Quinte.) Approaching the Moira River, you will pass under the Norris Whitney Bridge (clearance is 75ft/23 m). The bridge channel is marked with a F RED light (portside) and F GREEN light (starboard side). Once clear of the bridge, continue east until you approach the third marker buoy – Q54 – Fl RED. Alter course to port and proceed to the entrance of Meyer’s Pier, the municipal marine.
